Elizabeth Monsees, PhD, MBA, RN, CIC, FAPIC
Dr. Elizabeth Monsees is the Senior Director for Infection Prevention and Stewardship Integration at Children’s Mercy in Kansas City, and an assistant professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. Dr. Monsees has contributed to various national committees, including the ANA and CDC Antimicrobial Stewardship Working Group, SHEA Research Committee, and APIC’s Communications and Nominations Committees. Currently, she serves on the SHEA Diagnostics Stewardship Task Force and the Antimicrobial Stewardship Workgroup. An accomplished educator, she has developed curricula both nationally and internationally and authored book chapters on quality methodology, patient safety, and antimicrobial stewardship. Additionally, she is a member of the editorial board for the American Journal of Infection Control and serves as a clinical editor for the APIC online text.
Rita Drummond Olans, DNP, CPNP-BC, FNAP, FAAN
Dr. Rita Drummond Olans is an Assistant Professor at the Mass General Hospital Institute of Health Professions School of Nursing. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Thanatology from Boston University in 1980, a Master of Science in Pediatric Nursing/Nursing from Simmons University in 1995, and her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the MGH Institute in 2013. Dr. Olans has published extensively in nursing and medical literature and contributed to the National Quality Partners (NQP) Playbooks for Antimicrobial Stewardship in Acute Care and Post-Acute and Long-Term Care. She co-authored the ANA/CDC White Paper defining the nurse’s role in stewardship and is an Associate Professor Emerita at the MGH Institute of Health Professions.
